Flo and the Machine
Thank goodness for the gym and Florence and the Machine today! It was a super-rough day at school. For those of you who are educators, today was the first day I had to use my CPI training...not something I thought I'd have to do. I was very stressed and somewhat shaken up after work. Normally, I would grab a bottle of wine, go home, sit on the couch and veg out with Maximus. Well, today I made a much better choice. I knew I needed to relieve the stress, so I hauled myself to the gym and did 35 hard minutes on the bike at an uphill climb. I felt so much better afterward. I cranked up Florence and the Machine and got it done. I also did not get that bottle of wine. :-) I'm trying to keep myself hydrated and on top of things instead of wallowing in my sorrows or self-medicating.
On another note, I've been comparing notes with a friend who is also trying to lose weight. It really does help to have a buddy! One tip I loved was pre-hardboiling a bunch of eggs for the week. Her and I are only eating the whites, but it makes life much easier to have things ready to go when you need them. I am not a morning person, so anything that will help me get out the door quicker is a blessing! Do you have any other tips that make your dieting easier for you? I'd love to hear them!

Don't drink your calories. Water, unsweetened iced tea with Splenda, coffee (ok, you will need a mininal amount of creamer), and diet soda, if you have to drink soda. Save alcohol for the weekends and really educate yourself on the calories in your favorite beer, wine and liquor!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine suggested making mini egg white omelettes in a muffin tin and baking it and you have easy on-the-go omelette muffins. Also I often pre-make a hearty blender full of smoothies for the week and I try to grab it so that I can either have it as a last minute breakfast, a in between meal pick up or if I do not end up drinking it during the day it makes a great immediate post-gym replenishment to help you avoid getting ridiculously hungry and binge eating/snacking. If you need any recommendations on kinds of smoothies/things to add I have all sorts of ways I do them even some that you may not like though :-P
